PIRATES!!!
The little Castillo de las Coloradas bravely stands guard, ever on watch for evil coming from the sea.
And Lanzarote, like some oversized, rocky beetle, flashes its brightest colours here, as if to warn potential predators that it would be far too dangerous for them to try gobbling it up.
I'm not sure the pirates were fooled. But boy, what a show.
Unfortunately, poor Lanzarote didn't realize that its bold display of venomous colours was, ironically, irresistably attractive to a far worse kind of predator, who started arriving in hordes.
Tourists.

Romantics of the world, unite!
Questionable painters of kitsch sunsets, do likewise!
Or maybe not.
But when the shadows close in, and the Punta de Aguila rocks and the valiant little Castillo take their welldeserved rest, the sky above takes over in a breathtaking fireworks of hues and shades.
Ack. More tourists.
