No pictures will ever do the Montañas del Fuego or the surrounding Timanfaya National Park justice. It's the kind of place that makes you wish you had paid better attention in the drawing classes at school. A painter's realm.
A terribly frustrating place for a poor tourist with a camera, too. Just when you thought you had taken a good likeness portrait, the light changes and the place shows another face. So you take another picture. And then another. And another.
You come away with about seven thousand pictures, each of them the same, each of them different. At home, you frantically try to decide which picture captures the place best. Madness sets in. Compulsive Timanfaya Photographing Disorder.
The Volcanoes are giggling in the background.
